Since 2011, our expert team has created BIM objects for building product manufacturers across the world. BIM content that has been downloaded, added to BIM libraries and BIM models and ultimately specified in construction projects globally.

How we help you create BIM content

BIMobject's content development team helps building product manufacturers define an actionable, step-by-step plan to digitalise their product catalogue into BIM objects.

First, our BIM consultants will review your products and technical documentation together with your technical team. Based on that we will give recommendations on your BIM content development.

You decide if you want to work project-based or outsource a set number of development hours of yearly development. We can also maintain your BIM content to make sure it performs over time.

BIM: file types and formats

Want to digitise your products? Let's have a quick chat to set the right scope and price for your content development project. We create BIM content for all the main software systems, such as:

  • Revit
  • ARCHICAD

Wonder which system to choose? When planning your project we will advise you on the most relevant for your products, based on your market category or target market.

What data goes into a BIM object?

To create BIM objects you start with graphical information to create the 3D object. But - the BIM process requires data too. Information about the product: product description, materials, colours, technical attributes, dimensions, product performance and climate impact. This data is also added to the BIM object.

Which product categories are suitable as BIM objects?

Most building products are! Different products have unique qualities or usage in construction design. Well-developed BIM objects delight designers as they perform as expected in a BIM model. When turning products into BIM content they have different complexity in their requirements:

Products based on one or more layers of materials. Examples: paint, varnishes, finishes, carpets, glass, wood, waterproofing, thermal insulation, walls, roofing.

Furniture, sanitary or kitchen interior that can be used standalone. Examples: tables, pipes, mirrors, countertops, chairs, sinks, showers and toilets.

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) products requiring speciality knowledge to combine and install into full solutions. Examples: mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling, electrical sockets, outlet controls and installations, plumbing drainage valves, joints.

These products are different types of basic residential doors and windows, but also more complex doors and windows with more advanced mechanics. Examples: residential doors and windows or roof windows, industrial doors, high-speed doors or revolving doors.
