As he steps into the CEO role at BIMobject, Niklas Agevik shares why he joined the company, what customers and partners can expect next, and his perspective on scaling digital platforms, sustainable decision-making, and long-term, profitable growth.
Niklas joins BIMobject with experience in building and scaling software products. Prior to joining BIMobject, he served as CEO of Reason Studios AB, leading the transition from traditional license sales to a modern SaaS model.
He previously founded Instabridge AB, scaling it to over 30 million users, and has held leadership roles at Ericsson (SE) and Payfone (US) in the telecom and mobile payments sectors. He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.
For more than 14 years, BIMobject has worked with building product manufacturers and the AEC community, including architects, engineers, and construction professionals, to support the digitization of construction. Today, that mission is brought together under Bim.com, a connected ecosystem that serves as a central hub for reliable product information.
Bim.com connects manufacturers with professionals who design, build, and operate buildings, including property owners, AEC professionals, and distributors. By reducing friction and making product information easier to access and use, we help accelerate better decisions across the construction value chain.

With this next chapter underway, we sat down with Niklas Agevik, our new CEO, to discuss why he chose Bim.com, what customers and partners can expect going forward, and how he approaches building a fast-moving company.
What led you to say yes to BIMobject, and why was this the right moment to step in as a CEO?
''I got a very good impression of the chairwoman, Pia Engholm, and the other board members and owners. Their passion for BIMobject really shone through in all my interactions with them.
As I learned more about the product and vision, I could see why — being part of changing the design and construction industry felt like something very worthwhile to work on.
And the more people I’ve met and interacted with at BIMobject, the more convinced I am that the company is full of great people and that we’re on to something big.''
Looking 12–18 months ahead, what do you want customers and partners to notice has improved the most?
''I want customers and partners to clearly feel that BIMobject is moving fast and that our products are improving rapidly.
There’s also an opportunity to make it even easier for customers to understand our full offering and know where to go, so we’ll focus on clearer, more cohesive experiences across our domains.
Internally, I hope everyone will feel part of working toward a shared, exciting vision.''
You’ve led a SaaS transformation before. What are the biggest lessons you’re bringing that will shape how we build and deliver value?
''I’m a big believer in speed. Nobody knows all the answers in advance, but being out talking to customers and releasing product improvements is a reliable way to learn whether you’re focusing on the right things.
I also believe it’s important to be comfortable making mistakes when you’re driving a big change, as long as we’re honest about what happened, fix it quickly, and learn from it. We’ll make mistakes along the way, and that’s okay. What matters is how fast we learn and improve.''
What does “profitable growth” mean to you in practice, and how does that benefit customers?
''For customers, profitable growth signals long-term stability. It shows that the business is sustainable and able to keep investing in improving the platform, giving customers confidence in a long-term partnership. That stability also gives the organization the focus needed to make deliberate investment decisions over time.''
What’s one value you never compromise on as a leader, and what do you do outside of work to recharge?
''As a leader, I never compromise on integrity. I’m always honest, even when it’s a tough message to deliver. I also want to communicate clearly and simply. There are plenty of corporate words you can use to blur the message, but I prefer to say things as plainly as possible.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time in nature. I’m a scout leader for kids aged 8–11, and it’s something I really enjoy. Sitting around a campfire in the woods, singing silly songs with a bunch of kids, certainly takes your mind off work.''
A habit you rely on to stay focused?
''If there’s something I dread doing, I always do it first, preferably as soon as I get into work. That way, I get it out of the way and can spend the day (hopefully) doing the fun stuff.
I also make a lot of reminders and notes. I keep notes in my phone, in notebooks, and on my laptop. If I think of something, I write it down immediately. From the outside, it might look a bit chaotic, but I usually don’t miss anything important. I hope.''
A fun fact
''I used to have a pilot’s license. I grew up next to an airport and have always loved planes, so when I became an adult, I took a private flying license. It has expired now, but being able to fly a plane was a childhood dream, and I hope to do it again someday. Maybe when I’m retired.''
What you’re most excited to learn in your first months
''I’m very excited to meet the people at Bim.com, our customers, and other industry stakeholders. I think I’ll learn a lot and I’m really looking forward to it.''
